Merida Known as the White City

Merida, the capital city of the Mexican state of Yucatan, is one of many popular Mexican travel destinations. Known as the White City, Merida is constructed of mostly white limestone. Many of the buildings are traditionally painted white as well. Up until recently, it was difficult for travelers to reach Merida due to the road conditions in Mexico.
